10ft Motor Launch "Pims", Design #156 NewConstruction cold molded on steam bent frames |
This small launch is based on the 1927 Morgan Giles launch “Shush” which can be seen today in the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Cornwall, U.K. While the original is carvel planked, this one is triple skin on bent frames which is more suitable for a boat that will be kept largely out of the water. As a tender to a larger vessel, a miniature pleasure boat, or simply as an entertaining building project this will be an absorbing and exquisite piece of work. |

16 ft 6 in Inboard Workboat, Design #117Construction: Carvel on Bent Frames |
| This one was drawn for a friend and fellow boatbuilder as a small heavy duty workboat. Scantlings are on the husky side and the engine is a two cylinder diesel. With a gasoline engine and a yacht finish it would also be a nice launch for pleasure use. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

20 ft "Sea Angler", Design #89Construction: Plywood |
| A simple, v-bottom displacement motor boat laid out with day fishing trips in mind. This is a very civilized little boat of a kind we think there should be more of. Trailerable, too. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

22 ft Motor Cruiser "Jennifer", Design #74Construction: Plywood |
This is another boat particularly dear to our hearts. She also made long journeys, twice to Alaska and other trips up the B.C. coast. She is comfortable, quiet, warm, and secure. Two steering stations allow for al fresco cruising when the weather is fine and cozy comfort when it is raining, as it often is on the BC coast. She has room to stow enough stores to be self sufficient in isolated areas for quite a while. Her accommodations, while compact, have all the necessities - heating stove, galley stove with oven, sink, head, good comfortable berth, comfortable seats. Special attention was given her soundproofing, so that even though the three cylinder diesel is forward under the double berth, she is quiet enough that conversation can be carried on at normal level. Fuel consumption is 2½ liters per hour at 6 knots and cruising range is 800 nautical miles. Photographs are available in the section for Custom Building Projects. |

22 ft Cabin Cruiser, Design #73Construction: Carvel on bent frames |
| This is a displacement motor boat with a 7 knot cruising speed. It has a two berth layout and a full headroom cabin. It belongs to a family of small motor boat designs that have proved themselves seaworthy and dependable. All the boat you need to explore the coast in comfort. This one is drawn for carvel planking on bent frames. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

22 ft Motor launch, Design #141Construction: Strip planked/cold molded |
This is essentially a semi-displacement version of Design #74. The hull is round bilged with an immersed transom and flat run best suited to speeds in the 12-16 knot range, with inboard diesel power of 50-75 BHP. It has two-station steering and weekend accommodation for two. Fully glued construction allows the boat to be kept out of the water on a trailer when necessary. |

24 ft Launch, "Wayward" Design #119Construction: Strip planked |
This is an interesting one - very much one man's boat. It was drawn for our old friend Bill Hayward for long distance cruising on inland waterways. The concept is a light, trailerable motor boat with economical fuel consumption but enough speed to get upstream on rivers when necessary. The hull is round bilged and the construction dead simple - cedar strip, glassed inside and out. Accommodation is spartan but comfortable with a vee berth forward and galley and head aft. There are both inside and outside control stations. Photos of "Wayward" on the water may be seen in the Custom Building section. |

24 ft Motor Cruiser, Design #143Construction: Vee-bottomed double planking on sawn frames and fore-and-aft stringers. |
| This is the latest in a line of small diesel motor boats incorporating lessons learned and some new ideas for a most comfortable long range cruiser. It has a single chine hull drawn for displacement speeds and maximum economy of operation. There is inside and outside steering, and accommodation for two that includes a diesel heater, ice box, stove and head. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

30ft Motor Cruiser Design #157 NewConstruction: Double skin on sawn frames |
| With hull lines and construction similar to #143 this 30ft cruiser belongs to the same general family, but deeper transom immersion and flatter sections aft allow for higher horsepower engines and speeds in the semi displacement range. This is a very comfortable all weather motor boat ideal for the cruising couple, but with room to sleep four. Construction is straightforward: one layer of diagonal planking and one layer fore and aft fully glued on sawn frames. This plan is well suited to the amateur builder with the energy and perseverance for a larger project. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

32ft Motor Cruiser 'Promised Land' Design #152 NewConstruction: carvel or double fore and aft planking on laminated frames |
I drew this powerful little double ender for my good friend Thomas Schienpflug, first rate boatbuilder and lover of heavy wood and traditional boats. She is modeled after the double ended salmon trollers once a familiar sight in the Pacific NW, but with a little more beam for better cruising accommodation. The plans show double skin fore and aft planking over laminated frames. Single skin carvel and steam bent frames would be equally appropriate where materials are available. Either way this one is a challenging piece of work, but the result will be a very comfortable and economical long range motor boat. |
